properties are used to identify substances

characteristic properties:

density: is the property of matter representing the mass per unit volume.

the density of  wood , plastic and steel are different.

specific  heat: is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one gram of a substance by one degree celsius.

solubility: is the measure of how much of a substance dissolves in a given volume of a liquid.

changes of states are physical changes

dear, pepito

yesterday in science the teacher talk about meltiling, freezing, evaporation, sublimation, boiling and condesation.

he say that melting is the process by which a solid becomes a liquid.

freezing  is the process by which a liquid becomes a solid

evaporation is a process by which liquid becomes a gas.

boiling is another process by which a liquid becomes a gas

condesation is the process by which a gas changes its state to become a liquid .

and the last but important is

sublimation is the process by which a substance changes directly from its solid state to its gas state without becoming a liquid first.

thats all we talk in the class.  in the donw part i give you some picture

matter has observable properties

latest news

in the last two days, we asked to the people about properties of matter and this is these is what the people say:

what is physical properties?

is the characteristics of a substance that can be observed without changing the identify of the substance.

for example:

ann ice cube has solid state,

 water has liquid state

 the air has gas state.

what is physical changes?

a change in a substance that does not change the substance into a different one.

for example:

1)ice melting

2)clay being modeled into a new shape

3)butter melting on toast

4)juice box in freezer freezes

5)paper is cut in half

6)rubbing alcohol evaporates on your hand

7)water evaporates from the surface of the ocean

8)a soda can is crushed

9)a glass bottle is broken

10)a beach ball deflates

what is chemical properties?

ia a characteristic of a substance that descrribes how it can form a new substance

for example:

  1. combustibility

  1. flammability

  1.  Rusting and reactivity.

what is chemical changes?

is a change of a substance into another substance.

for exanmple:

1.rusting of iron
2.exploding of dynamite
3.digestion of food
4.moldy chesse

matter exists in different physical states

different physical states

solid:  is  a substance                                                        liquid: has a fixed  volume

that has a fixed                                                                     but does not have a fixed

volume and a fixed shape.                                               shape.

 gas: has no fixed volume

or shape.

they are different because the particles of solid are together , gas are separate and liquid are together but usually  father apart than the solid are.

matter combines to form different substances

different  substances

element:a substance that cannot be broken down into a simpler substance by ordinary chemical changes. An element  consists of atoms of only one type.

compound: is a substance mada up of two or more different types of atoms bonded together.

mixtures: is a combination of two or more substances.

pure matter:  is the matter that no have any  mixtured .

homogeneous mixture:  any combination of substances that has  composition and properties, a mixture that is uniform throughout.

heterogeneous mixtures:  any combination of substances that does not have uniform composition and properties

matter is made of atom

Atoms:

a litlle, litlle, litlle piece of matter

you cant see but is next to you

is something that you only

see with a miscroscopes

atoms are really , really

small

 have mass

and have electrone

and proton.

molecules

molecules are smallers

is made of atoms

have two different subtance

hydrogen and oxygen

they are small but more easy to see.

Matter has mass and volume..

matter:

dear. chavez

mass: is the measure of how much matter an object is made of.

for example: an feather has more mass than a elephant
weight: is the downward pull on an object due to gravity.

for example: the gravity that is pulling down on both the girl and the packpack. the heavier the backpack is, the stronger the pull of gravity is on it.

masss and weight is like the same but have different property

you can get the volume of the box with the fomula:

volume=length*width*height

v=lwh

displacement: is the shifting of a actions from a desired target  to a substitute  targe when there is some reason why the first target is not  permitted or not available.

matter: matter exist ordinarily as a solid , liquid and gas.
